Pune, 22nd February 2024: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a stern warning to businesses operating without authorization along Pune-Solapur National Highway No. 65, Pune-Nashik National Highway No. 60, and Pune-Satara National Highway No. 48. The authority has urged these businesses to dismantle their unauthorized structures within seven days at their own expense, threatening eviction and financial penalties if the directive is not heeded.

NHAI Pune has identified encroachments by some property owners along the Pune-Solapur National Highway, creating hindrances to the ongoing highway expansion work. Unauthorized constructions have been observed on both sides of the Pune-Solapur National Highway, with encroachments extending 15 meters from the center where there is a 30-meter Right of Way (ROW), and 30 meters from the center where there is a 60-meter ROW.

Similarly, Pune-Nashik National Highway has witnessed illegal encroachments on both sides, violating the specified ROWs of 30m, 45m, and 60m. Encroachments have been noted 15m, 22.5m, and 30m from the center, respectively.

On the Pune-Satara National Highway, unauthorized encroachments have been identified 30 meters from the median on both sides.

The NHAI directive requires the removal of these encroachments within seven days, failing which the authority will proceed with eviction under the National Highways Control (Land and Transport) Act 2002. The costs and penalties incurred during the eviction will be recovered from the responsible parties.

In adherence to the decisions made during the District Road Safety Committee meeting, legal actions, including the cancellation of business licenses, will be taken against those breaking road dividers and making unauthorized constructions on commercial highways and service roads.

Project Director Sanjay Kadam has appealed to all professionals to refrain from breaking road dividers or encroaching on highways and service roads without authorization, emphasizing the consequences outlined by the NHAI and the District Road Safety Committee.
