New OTP/PIN System to Ease Cab Pickup at Pune Airport
Viman Nagar, 08 August 2024: : Passengers arriving at Pune’s city airport might soon experience smoother cab pickups thanks to a new system being introduced at the AeroMall cab pickup point. On Wednesday, airport authorities confirmed that cab aggregator Ola has agreed to implement an OTP/PIN-based system to streamline the process. Uber is already using this system at the airport.
YS Rajput, Vice President of the AeroMall Authority, commented, “Uber has successfully implemented this system in several areas, and now Ola will be joining with its Ola Prime and Ola Prime Plus segments, which represent over 30% of airport bookings. We anticipate that this will help reduce crowding and improve order at the cab pickup point.” Rajput also noted, “We are in ongoing discussions with the aggregators to extend this system to all segments at Pune airport. We expect the system to be rolled out more broadly in the coming days, depending on customer feedback and driver acceptance.”
Under the new system, passengers will receive a PIN number upon booking a cab. They can then board any available cab and provide the PIN to the driver. Once the PIN is entered into the driver’s app, the destination will be displayed.
