‘Neer Dhvani Festival’ an innovative awareness campaign on multiple dimensions of water soon to be held in the city

Pune, September 18, 2018: Water will probably be the most critical resource in this century. Multiple aspects of water need to be understood before any attempt on conservation and resource management is made. With an aim to create awareness about saving water as resource, an announcement of ‘Neer Dhvani Festival’ an innovative awareness campaign and endeavour by Maritime Research Centre (MRC) and Talera Institute of Fine Arts (TIFA) in collaboration with National Film Archive of India (NFAI)

This announcement of the forthcoming Neer Dhvani Festival was made at NFAI with in the presence of Dr. (Cdr) Arnab Das, Director, MRC, Praful Talera, Advisor, MRC, Vivek Damle of Prabhat Studio and Trishla Talera – Director, Evolving Culture Foundation. Also, members of the advisory and organizing committees of Neer Dhvani Festival were present on the occasion. Jal Hain Toh Kal Hain, a street play by Swatantra Theatre Group was performed outdoors.

Trishla Talera explained, “Neer Dhvani Festival is an inclusive effort to create such a mix through the medium of films and art. It will bring together creative ideas in terms of packaging the information, bringing visual appeal, drawing public attention, and energizing the young mind.”

“Through this Festival will also focus on acoustics, the only signal that propagates efficiently underwater. The soundscape in the underwater domain has many stories to be told. The dynamic interplay of actors and assets in the ecosystem can be decoded, and effective Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) can be generated based on detailed acoustic analysis,” expressed Cdr. Das.

Neer Dhvani Festival will run on November 24-25, 2018 at NFAI and its detailed schedule will be announced soon said Prakash Magdum, Director NFAI. “The Festival will encourage and engage people to become aware about management and conservation of water as a natural resource. This multidisciplinary initiative will orient the public to marine ecosystems and freshwater systems through film screenings and interactive sessions. The festival will spark debate and awareness in the community to collectively think about ways to optimize and conserve the resource, and strategize policies for sustainability,” he stated.

“The Festival aims to address multiple broader issues of policy, technology, economics, diplomacy and many more. The format of the session will be to play the film for a duration of 30 minutes and then have an expert or the film maker or even a panel of related individuals interacting with the audience. Along with the films we would like to promote interaction with water through art installations, music and engagement booths,” said Praful Talera
