NDA Pune Marks 75 Years with Historic Car Rally: From Clement Town to Khadakwasla

Khadakwasla, 29th December 2023: In the ongoing series of commemorative events honoring 75 years of nurturing military leaders, the National Defence Academy (NDA) organized a car rally spanning from the former Joint Services Wing at Clement Town, Dehradun, to the current National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, Pune. This event held special significance as a heartfelt tribute to ‘Operational Badli,’ marking the relocation of this premier tri-services institution to its present location at Khadakwasla.

The car rally commenced on December 23, flagged off at Raj Bhavan, Dehradun, by the Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), an alumnus of the 50th Course of the National Defence Academy. In its second leg, Lt Gen JP Mathew, UYSM, AVSM, SM, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, flagged off the rally from Delhi on December 24. The rally featured the participation of 13 officers and four veterans, covering a remarkable 1800 km journey through Delhi, Gwalior, Nashik, and Mumbai, culminating at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla on December 28, 2023, in front of the historic Sudan Block.

This Car Rally not only commemorates the historic shift of the National Defence Academy from Clement Town to Khadakwasla but also serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and dedication of NDA alumni, highlighting their substantial contribution to nation-building. The generous sponsorship by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, providing vehicles and support along the route, significantly contributed to the success of this monumental event.
