Mumbai, 24th August 2024: In a surprising move amid the OTT (Over-the-Top) era, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming film, Adbhut, will bypass traditional platforms and premiere directly on television. Directed by Sabbir Khan, the investigative horror thriller will air on Sony Max on 15th September at 8 PM. The film, which features Nawazuddin as a detective solving a mysterious case, also stars Rohan Mehra, Diana Penty, and Shreya Dhanwanthary. This decision marks a significant deviation from the current trend of releasing films either in theaters or on streaming services.

Adbhut challenges the industry norm of digital-first releases by opting for a direct-to-TV approach. This move is particularly notable in an era where the primary avenues for film releases have become either theaters or OTT platforms. By choosing television, the film harks back to the 1980s and 1990s when movies were often released directly to DVD or television. This strategic decision is seen as a break from the established distribution pattern.

The trailer for Adbhut was released recently, offering a glimpse into the film’s intriguing storyline. It opens with Rohan Mehra and Shreya Dhanwanthary’s characters vacationing in a luxurious, isolated house. However, strange occurrences begin to unfold, drawing Nawazuddin’s detective character into the scene. As the investigation progresses, the suspense intensifies, particularly around Diana Penty’s character, leading to the revelation of buried secrets and old skeletons.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s previous works include Raat Akeli Hai, where he portrayed a police officer investigating a murder, and a significant role in the Telugu film Saindhav. With Adbhut, Nawazuddin continues to explore diverse roles, this time in a film that breaks away from the conventional release methods, making it a noteworthy event in the current cinematic landscape.
