National level Student’s Research Conference held at MIT-WPU

Pune 29th February 2020: To mark the occasion of Science Day, MIT, World Peace University’s School of Computer Science organized a National level Student’s Research Conference on Innovation in Computer Science & Information Technology for Sustainability (ICSITS 2020) at it’s Kothrud campus. This is a part of Science week programs organized from 28th February to 4th March 2020. The program was inaugurated in presence of Chief Guests Dr. Arvind Shaligram , Professor and Head, Dept. of Electronic Science, SPPU and Kranti Athalye , Senior Manager, University Relations IBM India, Guest of honour Dr. Sanjay Shinde, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune ,Key note speaker Atul Kahate, Technology Expert, Cryptography & Network Security and Dr. Y. S. Patil, Head, Center for Information. Technology, VAMNICOM, Pune, Dr. Milind Pande, Pro Vice Chancellor, MIT-WPU, Convener Dr. Shubhalaxmi Joshi, Associate Dean, Faculty of Science, MIT-WPU, Co-Convener Dr. Chandrashekhar Patil, Head, School of Computer Science MIT-WPU.

Dr. Sanjay Shinde, IPS,Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune said that at a time when society is facing various challenges and threats related to cyber crime and criminals are using the vulnerabilities to commit crimes , students should focus on emerging challenges like these to address the real world problems while selecting projects and paper presentation.

While delivering the keynote address Atul Kahate, Technology Expert, Cryptography & Network Security said while using technologies we all should be careful as the algorithms are being created by analyzing and studying all the actions carried out by us on the social media platform. Cyber crimes happen because of three major things fear, greed and lack of technology education. We take social media very casually. But the crimes happening in the virtual world are extremely serious. Try to apply it in real life situation and work towards it.

Dr. Milind Pande, Pro Vice Chancellor, MIT-WPU said we are in the era of Information Technology. We need to keep practising and bring innovation applicable to society. Areas in computer science where students need to research and work are quantum computing, language technology, robotics etc.

The theme of this conference revolved around sustainable frameworks using technology and provided a platform to budding researchers to present their ideas and solutions in the form of poster and paper presentation. The conference brought together students, academicians, research scholars and industry experts to present share and discuss technical work in emerging topics like Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing and IoT etc. Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology, Pune.

The event was concluded with the prize distribution ceremony in the presence of Dr. Arvind Shaligram , Professor and Head, Dept. of Electronic Science, SPPU, Ms. Kranti Athalye , Senior Manager, University Relations IBM India.

The team comprising Gaurav Joshi, Hrushikesh Walvekar received first prize, second prize was presented to Soham Gumaste while the third prize was gained by the team including Sourabh Marne, Gayatri Deshpande, Drishti Bomble for the paper presentation in the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science domain

Rahul N. Patil received first prize, Sanjay Chandrakant Khubchandani bagged the second prize and the team including Mustafa Kapasi, Swati Baviskar gained the third prize in Computational Science domain.

From the Cyber Security domain the team Haritha N, Karthick Deepan S received the first prize, the second prize was presented to the team Shubham Modi, Pratiksha Vidhale, Shohrat Ali and Pushkar Parmar while the third prize was bagged by the team including Nitin Bhopatkar and Ragini Tandekar.

From the Cloud Computing & IOT domain Divij Bajaj, Dr. Dhanya Pramod team bagged the first prize, Abdul Tayyeb received the second prize while the third prize was given to the team Rutwik Shete, Prathamesh Babar.

Dr.C.H.Patil, Head, School of Computer Science presented the overview of the event and Dr. Rajashree Khande, Associated Head, School of Computer Science proposed the vote of thanks.
