National Award To Film Made On Life Of Lata Kare Who Participated In Marathon To Raise Funds For Husband’s Treatment

Pune, 24 March 2021: Sixty-six-year-old Lata Kare who participated in the marathon to raise fund for her husband’s medical treatment was in news again as the film made on her life won the national award. The film ‘Lata Bhagwan Kare – Ek Sangharsh Gatha’ won the award in the regional language category.

A native of Mehekar of Buldhana district, Lata led her life by doing odd jobs. She got her three daughters married. She settled down in Baramati. Her husband Bhagwan was suffering from heart ailments and to raise funds for his treatment, she participated in the local marathon.

She won the marathon. She hit the headlines as she ran without any sports shoes and in a traditional nine-yard saree. She consecutively won the marathon for three years.

She acted in the movie along with her husband and son. The movie shows her life journey which was full of hardships.

On Monday, the Ministry of Broadcasting declared the national awards.
