MSEDCL Reports Pune Consumers Paying Rs 796 Crore Online In Electricity Bills

Pune, 19th October 2024: The response from low-pressure category electricity consumers in Western Maharashtra to paying MSEDCL electricity bills online is steadily increasing. Currently, 41.12 thousand domestic, commercial, industrial, and other consumers in this category are paying bills amounting to approximately ₹1195.70 crore each month from home through online platforms.

MSEDCL has made various customer services available digitally, providing convenience for all customer categories. Instead of waiting in long queues at bill payment centres or adhering to office hours, consumers can now pay their electricity bills online, 24/7. Domestic, commercial, industrial, and other low-pressure category customers can access these services via the website www.mahadiscom.in and the mobile app. Additionally, it is possible to pay multiple electricity bills online from a single registered account and save monthly bill details and payment receipts on a computer or mobile device.

In the past three months, 1,26,38,606 low-pressure consumers in Western Maharashtra have paid electricity bills totalling ₹3,587.32 crore online. Of these, 42 lakh 12 thousand (79 %) consumers are paying an average of ₹1,195.70 crores (80 %) in monthly bills from home online. This includes 25.84 lakh consumers in the Pune district paying ₹796 crores, 4.63 lakh consumers in Satara district paying ₹75.81 crores, 3.20 lakh consumers in Solapur district paying ₹83.27 crores, 5.44 lakh consumers in Kolhapur district paying ₹169.27 crores, and 3 lakh consumers in Sangli district paying ₹71.33 crores.

Paying electricity bills online is convenient and secure. The provisions of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Payments and Settlements Act, 2007, apply to this method. After completing online payment, customers receive an acknowledgement via SMS on their registered mobile number. Additionally, a 0.25 % discount (up to ₹500) is offered when bills are paid online through Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, BHIM, Internet Banking, Mobile Wallet, or Mobile Banking.
