More Wait For Vande Bharat’s Sleeper Coaches; Railway Board’s Agreement With Private Company To Make 1,920 Coaches

Latur, 11th September 2024: Passengers will have to wait for another few months for sleeper coaches of Vande Bharat Express from Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur. A total of 1,920 coaches will be manufactured in the coach factory at Latur, according to the agreement between the Railway Board and Kinet Railway Solutions (KRSL).

It is said that the company will be responsible for manufacturing 1,920 coaches in seven years and maintenance and repair of coaches for the next 35 years. The said work has been inaugurated recently. A prototype of the coaches will be built in the coming months. After that, the production of coaches will start.

A few days ago, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the sleeper coaches of Vande Bharat Express would be tested in the next three months. At present, work is being done to manufacture sleeper coaches for Vande Bharat Express at Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will also be manufactured at the Marathwada Coach Factory in Latur.

About 10,000 employees are working in the factory at Latur. Also, the production of railway coaches will be done here with the help of modern machines. The Marathwada Rail Coach Factory at Latur has been built on 351 acres. 11 well-equipped advanced assembly stations have been set up there. Also, various workshops have been created including a car body shop, warehouse, assembly, testing, bogie, and paint shop. There is an 8.6 km long track inside the factory.
