More than 1100 crimes solved with CCTV cameras help in Mumbai, Pune

Mumbai, 3/9/2019: The State Government has installed nine thousand 800 CCTV cameras in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur city for law and order at public places. CCTV cameras are proving to be helpful in solving crime cases and more than 1100 crimes are solved with the help of CCTV.

Currently, 5000 CCTVs are installed in 1510 spots in Mumbai. 1243 CCTV cameras are installed in 425 spots in Pune city. Around 14 lakh e-challan are generated for traffic violations, came to light through CCTV footage, in Pune. CCTV footage has come handy to solve many cases and total 216 crimes occurred in the city have been solved.

With the help of CCTV footage, e- challans are generated against seven lakh individuals for violating traffic rules in Mumbai. 2100 footages were used to solve crimes. An additional 5625 CCTV camera installation is approved for Mumbai city. With the help of CCTV footage, total 972 criminals are arrested from Mumbai and Pune. 3600 CCTV cameras are activated in Nagpur city.

Controlling religious and public festivals, Morcha, protests, VIP rallies, elections effectively has become possible due to CCTV cameras. The State Government has started various projects in the last five years to maintain law and order. It includes important projects like CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System) and installing CCTV cameras at public places.
