Mumbai, 20th July 2024: Star fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been sidelined since the ODI World Cup final last year, where India was defeated by Australia. Shami has been recovering from an ankle injury, which also led to his absence from the 2024 T20 World Cup. He recently underwent surgery and is in the process of recuperating.

During his recovery, Shami has been supported by close friends from the Indian cricket team, including Ishant Sharma and Virat Kohli. In a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Shami mentioned that while he maintains contact with this group, his interactions with them are not frequent.

On the subject of friendship, Shami emphasized the importance of quality over quantity. He noted that he prefers to surround himself with a select group of people rather than a large number, focusing on maintaining meaningful relationships rather than having many acquaintances. “I value quality over quantity. If I opted for quantity, I’d be surrounded by a crowd constantly. But I prefer to concentrate on my work and maintain a more focused circle,” Shami explained.

Regarding his recovery, Shami has made progress but has not yet returned to full bowling activity. He shared an update on Instagram with the caption, “Vibing with the latest, grinding for the greatest. #shami #mdshami #mdshami11 #hardwork #practice.”

A source close to Shami indicated that more details about his return will become clear once he resumes full-intensity bowling and assesses his body’s response. The source expressed confidence that Shami will soon be back representing India, noting his diligent efforts as seen in his social media updates.
