Pune, 10 June 2024: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified the offer made to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) regarding cabinet positions. Speaking on the matter, Fadnavis stated, “The NCP was offered one seat in the government with MoS Independent Charge. However, they requested Praful Patel for the position, who was already a minister and thus ineligible for the MoS Independent Charge role.”

He further explained the complexities of forming a government with multiple alliances, stating, “When a government is formed with an alliance, certain criteria need to be decided as several sides are together. The criteria cannot be twisted for one party alone. However, I am confident that during future expansions, they will be remembered. They requested a cabinet minister post.”

This statement underscores the ongoing negotiations and adjustments within the coalition government in Maharashtra.
