MLA’s Nephew Involved in Fatal Pune-Nashik Highway Crash; One Dead, Another Injured

Manchar, 23rd June 2024: An accident on the Pune-Nashik Highway at Kalamb has claimed the life of one person, identified as Om Sunil Bhalerao (19), a resident of Kalamb. Another person has sustained injuries. The incident involves the nephew of Khed MLA Dilip Mohite Patil from NCP (Ajit Pawar).

The accident occurred around 9 pm, involving a collision between a bike and a Fortuner SUV. Reports indicate that the MLA’s nephew Mayur Sahebrao Mohite, a resident of Shel Pimpalgaon, was allegedly driving the car on the wrong side when the accident happened near Eklahre village, resulting in Bhalerao’s death on the spot.

Police have initiated investigations into the incident to ascertain the exact sequence of events and determine any potential factors contributing to the collision. An FIR has been registered in the case at Manchar police station under Pune rural police. Accused Mayur has been arrested.

MLA Mohite Patil stated, “My nephew did not flee the scene after the accident. Moreover, he was not under the influence of alcohol. He remains in police custody, and the police are conducting further investigations. Samples have been taken from my nephew for medical examination.”
