Warje, 10th May 2023: Pune has been experiencing unseasonal rain and gusty winds in the last few days.

However, an unusual incident occurred when the roof of a running e-bus operated by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) was also blown off due to the strong winds. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and a potential disaster was averted. The incident took place around 7:30 in the evening at Warje Malwadi bridge on Monday.

The incident created a stir in the entire area, raising concerns about public safety. Following the incident, the PMPML administration promptly issued a notice to the contractor responsible for the e-bus and ordered a comprehensive inspection of all e-buses.

The particular e-bus involved in the incident was operating on the Nigdi to Katraj route from the Nigdi depot on Monday. At around 7:00 in the evening, while crossing the Warje Malwadi bridge, the bus encountered sudden heavy rain and strong winds. The bus had a few passengers onboard.

In a terrifying turn of events, a loud noise was heard, and the roof of the e-bus was violently ripped off, crashing to the side. The investigation revealed that the incident occurred due to a broken nut, causing the roof to detach from the bus. Despite the shock and fear experienced by the passengers, no injuries were reported.

The passengers were safely evacuated by the conductor and driver, who arranged for their transfer to another bus. Subsequently, the damaged bus was taken to the depot for repairs.
