MG Prepares to Launch Intelligent Cuv, Here’s What to Expect in Features and When it Might Arrive in India

Pune, 11th July 2024: JSW MG Motors India is gearing up to expand its portfolio in the Indian market with a new electric vehicle. According to sources, the company is preparing to introduce a new vehicle in the crossover segment, an Electric Car named Cloud EV. Currently undergoing testing in India, this car has already been offered in Indonesia by the company.

The Cloud EV from the British automaker’s Indian unit, JSW MG Motors India, is expected to come packed with several advanced features. It will boast a 15.6-inch infotainment system, 360-degree cameras, LED lights, connected headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Additional features include flush door handles, horizon skyline tail lights, a rear defogger, and a high-mount stop lamp. Inside, it will offer flat-folding rear seats, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, smart electric tailgate, PM 2.5 filter, keyless entry, wireless charger, airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESC, HHC, TPMS, parking sensors, and electric adjustable seats. The car will also feature an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a spacious boot space of 1707 liters.

In terms of performance, the Cloud EV is expected to be equipped with a 50.6 kWh battery capacity, allowing it to charge fully in about seven hours. With a fast charger, it can charge from 30 to 100 percent in just 30 minutes, offering a range of up to 460 kilometers. The vehicle will be powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 100 kW of power and 200 Newton meters of torque.

While MG Motors has not disclosed the exact launch date, industry expectations point towards a September launch in India with an estimated price of around ₹20 lakh.

Currently, MG’s Cloud EV faces no direct competitors in the Indian market. However, Tata Motors is set to introduce its Curvv EV soon, posing potential competition in the crossover electric vehicle segment.
