Meter Down: Know The Autorickshaw Fare And By Meter Reading Only- Pimpri Chinchwad Police

Pimpri-Chinchwad, January 22, 2021: From Thursday (January 21), it has been made mandatory for autorickshaw drivers to charge a fare as per meter reading Pimpri-Chinchwad. Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash started the initiative by taking down the meter of the autorickshaw at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk, Pimpri, and travelling in a rickshaw.

“Citizens demanded that the rickshaw drivers should collect fare as per meter. Accordingly, this initiative has been started. Citizens can complain to the police if the rickshaw driver refuses to drive the rickshaw as per the meter. The police will take strict action accordingly”, Krishna Prakash, Commissioner of Police.

Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner Sudhir Hiremath, Deputy Commissioner Manchak Ippar, Sub-Regional Transport Officer Atul Ade, Assistant Commissioner Dr Sagar Kavade, Assistant Commissioner Shrikant Disle, Pimpri Senior Police Inspector Milind Waghmare, Chinchwad Senior Police Inspector Sudhakar Kate, Inspector (Crime) Vishwajeet Khule, Traffic Branch Inspector Rajendra Kunte, Maharashtra Transport Panchayat president Baba Kamble were also present on the occasion.

The traffic police discussed with the officials of the rickshaw associations about charging the fare as per the meter. The rickshaw associations said that it is a positive thing to charge travel fare per meter.

Police squad will monitor

The traffic police have formed a squad. The team will patrol the city and interact with rickshaw drivers and citizens to inquire about the meter. The team will check whether the meter of the rickshaw is on or whether the fare is being charged as per the meter. If the fare is not charged as per the meter, action will be taken against the concerned rickshaw drivers.

Helpline number for complaints

Citizens can complain if there is any complaint about the rickshaw fare meter. Regarding this, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shrikant Disle said that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police has started a helpline number 9529681078 to report traffic problems. Complaints about rickshaw meters can also be made on it.

The rates for meter rickshaws are as follows

1 kilometre – Rs 18

2 kilometres – Rs 25

3 kilometres – Rs. 37.70

5 kilometres – Rs 67

10 kilometres – Rs 123
