Maharashtra : Value education program reaches to more than 22 lakh students

Mumbai, August 26th, 2019 – Value education program is being implemented in more than 40 thousand Zilla Parishad schools in the state and 22 lakh students have been benefitted from those schools.

The values education program is prepared for inculcating constitutional values among Zilla Parishad school students in the state. Through this program, thrust is being given on developing positive attitude among students and teachers as well as parents are being included in a big way. Shantilal Mutha foundation has imparted pre-training of the value education program to primary teachers.

The value education program is being implemented by Maharashtra Vidya Pradhikaran and while imparting quality education, thrust is being given to not only increase intelligent quotient but also emotional quotient of the students. This program has reached 40 thousand 231 schools in 3163 centres of 215 Tehsils of 36 districts in the state. There are 1.15 lakh 126 teachers and 22.65 lakh 249 students who have underwent value education program. The remaining schools in state would undergo value education program during this academic year.

Value education program is helping students to enhance their knowledge, skill as well as cognitive capabilities. Thrust is being given on value addition for teachers and quality improvement of students. This program is also made available in Hindi, English and Urdu languages in addition to Marathi.

The state Government prepared revised plan of value education in 2015 and under this plan, one centre from 34 districts was selected from 2016 for implementation. The scope was increased to20 thousand schools from 107 Tehsils and this year the program would reach to all the Zilla Parishad schools in the state.
