Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) promotes the 2nd International Buddhist Festival in Aurangabad
Aurangabad, 30th October 2017:Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) associates with the2nd “International Buddhist Festival for Social & Culture Relationship” in the historic city of Aurangabad. The festival aims to preserve the precious cultural heritage of Aurangabad. It offers a dais for all dignitaries to come together from different walks of life who have made contributions in the sphere of world peace, spiritualism and religion. On this occasion His Excellency, Hon’ble. Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Former President of Sri Lanka, Shri. Jaykumar Rawal, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and EGS, Government of Maharashtra, Hon’ble. Lohan Ratwatte, Member of Parliament (Kandy District), Sri Lanka, Hon’ble Udith Lokubandara, Member of Parliament (Badulla District), Sri Lanka, Hon’ble. Saroja Sirisena, Consul General of Sri Lanka and other national and international delegates were present.
The 2nd “International Buddhist Festival for Social & Culture Relationship”is one of the initiative taken by the organizers and Ministry of Tourism to showcase Buddhist heritage and pilgrimage locations in the nation and to entice tourists from across the globe. In the recent Buddhism Conclave, The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi stated that India is ready for developing a trans-border Buddhist Circuit with all over ASEAN & SAARC countries to increase the number of Buddhist pilgrims in the region from remaining parts of the world.
The Tourism Ministry has invited private and public-sector corporations and business individuals to adopt the heritage sites and take accountability for making heritage tourism more sustainable through preservation and development. The 14 shrines for adoption comprise of Qutub Minar (Delhi), Jantar Mantar (Delhi), Ajanta Caves (Maharashtra), Sun Temple (Odisha), Hampi (Karnataka) and many more.
Commenting on the occasion, Shri Jaykumar Rawal, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra said, “We are delighted to be part this wonderful event with the idea of creating the Buddhist Circuit in Maharashtra, as a global tourist hub for the tourists looking for spiritualism.Visitors from all over the globe come to our country to seek and acquire its spiritual legacy. The Tourism Ministry is looking forward to uplifting its position as the spiritual leader in the tourism sector across the globe”.
