Pune, November 29, 2020: Maharashtra’s school education department has modified the uniform age criteria for nursery children and the admission process will be carried out accordingly. The child will have to be above three years for nursery admission, said Dattatraya Jagtap, director of primary education.

As per the decision of the government dated January 25, 2017, the cut-off age to reach minimum age was declared as September 30 for school admission, whereas the government has fixed it as December 31.

There were difficulties for the admission of children born in October, November and December for the academic year 2021-22. Therefore the minimum and maximum age limit have been fixed so that the students do not suffer any academic loss due to the change of cut-off.

Children born between 1st October 2017 to 31st December 2018 will get admission to the nursery. Children from 1 October 2016 to 31 December 2017 will get admission in LKG. Children from 1st October 2014 to 31st December 2015 will be eligible for admission in Class I. The child must be at least three years old for nursery and six years old for the class 1st. All schools in the state should abide by the rules for admission, Jagtap said in the order.
