Maharashtra govt grants permission for industries to resume work in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune, May 15, 2020: Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta has ordered that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation be excluded from the Mumbai and Pune metropolitan areas, even though the new notification allowed limited start-ups and construction in the red zone. The state government had approved to start industries in other areas of the state except for the containment zone where COVID patients have been detected.
The COVID 19 affected areas have been divided into three categories based on the number of patients for preventive measures – Red, Orange and Green. The Red Zone consists of two parts – the first is the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the Pune Metropolitan Region and the Malegaon Municipal Corporation, and the second is the rest of the Red Zone. It has been mentioned in the order that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been excluded from Pune Metropolitan Region.
Revised regulations have been issued by the state government after the central government extended the lockdown till May 17 to prevent the outbreak of COVID19. The central government has included 14 districts in the state in the red zone. Apart from this, the state government has included all the municipal limits in the Mumbai metropolitan area, all the municipal limits in Pune metropolitan area and Malegaon municipal area in the red zone. It has been clarified in the order that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been excluded from this now.
The central government has relaxed most of the restrictions in the Orange and Green Zones, with a few exceptions. Private offices in the Green and Orange Zones are allowed to open 100 percent. However, with the exception of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in Mumbai (MMR) and Pune Region (PMR), private offices will remain closed and Central and State Government offices here will remain open with 5 per cent staff. The government has also clarified that government and private offices in other red zones will continue to use 33 per cent manpower.
The government has also clarified that e-commerce companies are allowed to sell essentials in all the zones except the containment zone in the red zone. Permitted industries and industrial units in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area are required to comply with the condition of presence of 33 % workers. The order also clarified that all the workers should be residents of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area, should be provided dedicated transport facilities for their travel or they can travel in their four-wheeler.
