Maharashtra Government Awards Rs 25 Lakhs to Pune Police for Seizing Massive Mephedrone Stock

Pune, 11th October 2024: Pune Police conducted a series of raids across multiple locations, including Pune, Kurkumbh near Daund, Kupwad in Sangli, a factory in Nashik, New Delhi, Patna, and West Bengal, leading to the seizure of Mephedrone drugs valued at ₹5,000 crores.

This large-scale operation was led by then-Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende and his team. In recognition of their efforts, the Maharashtra Government has announced a reward of ₹25 lakhs.

A government notification confirmed that the Pune City Police Crime Branch carried out these operations beyond state borders to dismantle a major drug smuggling network. The ₹25 lakh reward will be disbursed by the Director General of Police to the Pune City Commissioner of Police.

Pune CP Amitesh Kumar is expected to distribute the reward among the officers and personnel involved, as per the notification.
