Pune, 5th July 2024: After mounting concerns from candidates regarding delays in the admission process for professional courses, the state Common Entrance Test (CET) cell has announced tentative dates for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for 20 courses. This announcement, made on Thursday, includes 12 courses under the technical education department such as engineering, pharmacy, hotel management, architecture, and MBA, as well as courses in law, education, and physical education under the higher education department.

A senior official from the State CET Cell, which oversees the CAP, explained that the delay was due to technical changes in the browser.

The CET for the three-year law course took place on March 13, with results announced on May 3. She expressed frustration over the month-long wait without updates, fearing that a delayed admission process would result in a rushed curriculum, making it difficult for working individuals like her to keep up.

Thursday’s notice indicated that CAP has already commenced for nine professional courses and direct second-year admissions to an agriculture degree.

Students have taken to social media to express their frustrations over the delays. One student said, “I took the MHT-CET five-year law exam on May 30, and the results were delayed until June 26. Now, there is no update on the CAP round or college allocation. This year, results are given in percentiles, not marks, making it hard to predict college cut-offs. I have an offer from a deemed university with a strict refund policy. If I don’t apply within 15 days, I stand to lose Rs 1.5 lakh. Students are stressed and can’t make informed college decisions.”
