Maha Veer Chakra Digendra Kumar celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas in Lohegaon

Lohegaon (Pune), July 26, 2019 : Digendra Kumar MVC, SM (born 3 July 1969) is a former member of the 2nd battalion of the Rajputana Rifles regiment of the Indian army. He was awarded the Mahavir Chakra on 15 August 1999, for his acts of bravery in the Kargil War.

He killed 48 Pakistanis, destroyed 11 bunkers, beheaded a Pak Major & took 5 bullets on his body in battle of Tololing during Kargil War. e retired from the army on 31 July 2005. His life is full of military adventure. He participated in operations in Sri Lanka as well as Anti-Terror Ops in Kashmir with Kargil War being his major operation.

On the occasion of 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, MVC awardee Digendra Kumar was in Lohegaon, where a large of ex-servicemen reside. He spoke about his experiences.

Naik Digendra Kumar (Paraswal) – Maha Vir Chakra, comes from village Jhalara, tehsil Neem Ka Thana, district Sikar Rajasthan. Digendra Kumar was born on 3 July 1969 in the family of Shivdan Singh Paraswal. His mother was Rajkaur. Shivdan Singh was a strong follower of Arya Samaj, who joined Indian Army and was badly wounded in 1948 Indo-Pak war.

Digendra Kumar joined 2 Rajputana Rifles on 3 September 1985 and became one of the Best Commandos of the Indian army. He had acquired the skill to hit a target on the basis of only sound. After completing the training his battalion was posted in Jammu-Kashmir.

In 1987 he was sent in Indian Peace Keeping Force and he took part in ‘Operation Pawan’ in Sri Lanka, where his acts of bravery were highly appreciated.
