Loyola Football Cup : Infant Jesus, Vidya Bhavan grab two semis spots each

Pune, 1st October 2024: Infant Jesus H.S and Vidya Bhavan hogged the limelight claiming two semifinal slots each, while The Kalyani School and J.N Petit Technical School claimed one each in the Loyola Football Cup 2024 powered by Tata Autocomp and organised by ELAN (Ex Loyola Alumni Network) at the Loyola H.S ground, Pashan, here on Tuesday.

In the Under-14 section, Infant Jesus H.S rode on strikes from Om Shinde (2’) and a brace by Om Thakur (8’ & 40+1) to register a tight 3-2 win over The Kalyani School. For The Kalyani School, Goohan Motwani (12’) and Ved Mishra (27’) scored to keep pace until Om Thakur’s dramatic goal sealed the game for Infant Jesus H.S.

The other Under-14 qualifier was J.N Petit Technical School who blanked Vidya Bhavan 4-0. J.N Petit were aided by a hat-trick scored by Danish Gonal (1’, 20’, 34’) and Rozbeh Chhapgar (48’) to record the most comfortable win of the day.

Later, in the Under-16 section, Infant Jesus H.S cruised past The Kalyani School 4-1 and won their second last-4 spot of the day. Edwin Alex (18’), a brace by Aarav Nayar (26’ & 54’) and a goal by Shaurya Anand (55’) was enough for Infant Jesus H.S outplay The Kalyani School 4-1. The Kalyani School reduced the margin through Dhawal Desphane (42’).

In another Under-16 match, Vidya Bhavan sailed past J.N Petit Technical School 2-0. Single strikes by Malhar Marekar (12′) and Vaibhav Melinkeri (60′) was enough for Vidya Bhavan to go through.

The day began with the Under-12s encounter between The Kalyani School and Infant Jesus H.S being decided 3-2 on penalties in The Kalyani School’s favor. Both teams were locked 1-1 at regulation time. Viraaj Chachondia (5’) scored for The Kalyani School and Devansh Nikam (40+3’) scored for Infant Jesus H.S. In the penalties, Viraaj and Vivaan Bhangra gained success for The Kalyani School, while Farhan Mulla struck lone success for Infant Jesus H.S.

Both Under-12 and 14 sections have completed the semifinalists, whereas the Under-16 have one more to complete the line-up.
