Lonavala Waterfall Mishap: Body Of 4-Year-Old Boy Recovered

Lonavala/Pune, 1st July 2024: Yesterday, five individuals were swept away in a waterfall near the Bhushi Dam in Lonavala. Initially, three bodies were recovered, all confirmed deceased. Authorities managed to retrieve the fourth body early this morning, with the fifth body recovered around 6 PM today.

Sunil Gaikwad, Chief of Shivdurga Mitra Mandal Lonavala, told Punekar News that the fifth victim’s body was retrieved at 6 PM today. It was suspected that all five individuals had tragically passed away before being recovered, a fact confirmed upon retrieval of all bodies.

The deceased have been identified as Shahista Ansari (36), Amima Ansari (13), Umera Ansari (8), Adnan Ansari (4), and Maria Sayyad (9), all residents of Sayyednagar in Hadapsar, Pune.

Yesterday, the bodies of Shahista Ansari, Amima Ansari, and Umera Ansari were found, with Maria Sayyad’s body recovered this morning. Four-year-old Adnan’s body was retrieved at 6 PM today.

Gaikwad said, “Our Shivdurga Mitra Team, along with a team from the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Shivaji, participated in the recovery efforts. We advise tourists to exercise caution, especially during the rainy season.”
