Lok Adalat Orders Rs 58 Lakh Compensation for Family of Deceased Pune Municipal Employee

Pune, 29th July 2024: In a recent decision by the Lok Adalat, the family of a deceased municipal employee has been awarded Rs 58 lakh in compensation following his accidental death. The panel responsible for this decision included First Class Judicial Magistrates BP Kshirsagar and JG Dorley, along with Advocate Atul Gunjal, who facilitated the settlement through a compromise.

The incident occurred on June 7, 2020, when a 57-year-old municipal employee was riding his two-wheeler after purchasing groceries in the Dhanori area. A motorist, who had stopped on the road, suddenly opened their car door, causing the municipal employee to crash into it and sustain serious head injuries. He was immediately taken to a private hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on June 9, 2020.

Following the accident, the Vishrantwadi police registered a case against the motorist. The family of the deceased municipal employee subsequently filed a compensation suit in the motor accident court. Represented by Advocate Sunita Navale, the suit was directed against both the motorist and the insurance company.
