Lay Off, Salary Cut: Labour Commission Issues Notice to Systems Plus IT Company in Magarpatta City

Pune, April 13, 2020: After getting complaints that employees are being sacked and salaries being deducted, the Maharashtra Labour Commission today issued notice to an IT company located in Magarpatta City. More than 100 employees have been laid off and other salaries have been reduced by 30 %, the employees alleged.

DD Pawar, labour department officer, issued the notice to the management of Systems Plus company, Magarpatta City, Hadapsar, Pune. “Follow the directions given by the Maharashtra government on March 31 (regarding not to terminate employees from the job or to reduce their wages because of the Coronavirus COVID19 outbreak). Act on the complaint and submit action taken report”, Pawar stated in the notice.

After getting complaints from many employees, National Information Technology Employees Sena (NITES), a union of IT employees, lodged a complaint with the Labour Commission of April 9 for taking legal action against Systems Plus.

“National Information Technology Employees Sena – NITES is working for welfare and benefits of IT/ITES and would like to bring to your notice that we have received multiple complaints from employees of Systems Plus Technologies, Magarpatta City, regarding the termination of employment and no salary payment to maintain the PROFITABILITY of business under COVID – 19 Pandemic. The company has also notified employees on 18th March 2020 that they are on notice with immediate effect and the company will not pay their salaries. Because of this now pay and jobs of 350 employees are terminated. The company has violated Maharashtra state Government’s and Central government’s directions, rules and regulations”, states the complaint letter sent by NITES founder Dr Raghunath Kuchik, Vice President Vivek Mestri and General Secretary Harpreet Saluja.
