Late-Night Pub Dispute Turns Deadly: Man Killed by Bouncer in Pune

Pune, 23rd August 2024: In a shocking incident that occurred late Thursday night, a man was killed during a dispute over a bill at a pub on Sinhagad Road. The deceased has been identified as Gotya alias Amol Shejwal, a 34-year-old resident of Dhayari Phata, Sinhagad Road. Police have detained three individuals, including the bouncer involved in the altercation.

According to police, Shejwal and his friends were at the Classic Bar near Vadgaon Bridge on Sinhagad Road. At around 12:30 a.m., a heated argument broke out between the bar’s manager and Shejwal over the bill. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation.

During the scuffle, the bar’s bouncer retrieved a hammer from a nearby puncture shop and struck Shejwal on the head, causing severe injuries. Shejwal was immediately rushed to a private hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam, Senior Police Inspector Anandrao Khobare of the Sinhagad Road Police Station, and Police Inspector Raghavendra Kshirsagar from the Crime Branch arrived at the scene. The police have detained three individuals in connection with the case, and a murder charge has been filed against them.
