Pune, 15th August 2023: With the successful resolution of the NDA Chowk (Chandani Chowk) issue, the spotlight now shifts to addressing the crucial Bhugaon Bypass problem along the Pune-Kolad road.

A promising breakthrough has been achieved, as a staggering 95 percent of landowners have wholeheartedly agreed to allocate land for the proposed 18-meter wide and 800-meter long Bhugaon Bypass, as outlined in the comprehensive development plan of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).

The ambitious Bhugaon Bypass project necessitates the acquisition of approximately 1.44 hectares of land. To accomplish this, the concurrence of 41 landowners is imperative. Encouragingly, 37 plot holders have consented to relinquishing possession of their land in exchange for Floor Space Index (FSI) or Transferable Development Rights (TDR), duly affirmed through signed consent letters. This strategic road undertaking holds paramount importance in alleviating traffic congestion between NDA Chowk and Kolad, located in Raigad District.

The ardent pursuit of land acquisition will be spearheaded by PMRDA, ultimately transferring ownership to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Subsequently, the Roads Corporation will collaborate with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to actualize the road’s construction. Bolstered by a resounding 95 percent consent rate, PMRDA is poised to expedite project commencement, underscoring the likelihood of an expeditious initiation of the Bhugaon Bypass road.

Upon securing the requisite advanced possession consent from landowners for the Bhugaon bypass road, the site will be promptly transferred to the Roads Corporation, kick-starting the transformational project. The imminent implementation of this road infrastructure is poised to substantially alleviate traffic congestion, bringing substantial relief to the region. – Rahul Mahiwal, Metropolitan Commissioner, PMRDA.
