Lack Of Report Even After A Month Has Passed Since Inspection Of Pune-Nagar Highway; Former MLA Pathare Warns Of Protest
Pune, 18th May 2023: There is doubt as to whether a report has been prepared by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) even after a month of inspection of the Pune-Nagar road as the traffic congestion on the city highway from Kharadi Chowk to Shikrapur is still a problem.
“In this regard, we will hold a meeting with the relevant officials and demand again about the measures,” Former MLA Bapusaheb Pathare has warned that if satisfactory action is not taken, there will be a protest on city highways.
In April, a team of officers and engineers along with RTO’s Assistant Regional Transport Officer Anant Bhosale, and PWD’s Executive Engineer Milind Barbhai inspected the section between Kharadi Chowk and Ghodanadi Bridge on the city road.
The report was to be submitted by the RTO within ten days. Accordingly, works were to be done on this highway by PWD. But, even after a month, it is unknown whether the report regarding the measures taken on the problems on the city highway has been prepared or not. Expressing such doubts, former MLA Pathare has again warned of agitation.
Since the road has been widened between Pune-Shikrapur, the speed of vehicles has increased. However, even on this highway, the number of accidents is higher in the villages as there are narrow roads. In this, there are accidental narrow roads at Chandnagar, Kharadi, Wagholi, Sanaswadi, Shikrapur, Ranjangaon, and Koregaon Bhima.
Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Regional Transport Officer informed, “The combined survey of the Pune-Nagar road has been done by the officials of RTO and PWD, and the work of reporting is being completed. Some measures will be taken immediately. Necessary instructions have been given for safe transportation.”
