Tirupati, 20th September 2024: A political uproar has erupted over the alleged use of animal fat in the Prasad offered at the Tirupati temple. A few days ago, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) government of allowing the use of animal fat in the famous Tirupati temple Laddus.

While addressing the NDA Legislature Party meeting, CM Naidu claimed that the Laddus were made using substandard ingredients, including animal fat, instead of pure ghee.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) backed this claim, stating that lab reports confirmed the adulteration of the Laddus. TDP spokesperson Anam Venkat Ramana Reddy announced on Thursday (19th September), “The laboratory report from the National Dairy Development Board in Gujarat certifies that beef tallow, animal fat, lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of the ghee supplied to Tirumala.”

Reacting to the lab report, CM Naidu vowed that no one involved in this malpractice would be spared, promising strict action against the culprits. He emphasized that the lab findings clearly indicate the Prasad’s quality had been compromised with impure substances. “We have already initiated action against several individuals responsible for this, and some have been removed from their positions,” he added.

CM Naidu assured devotees that the sanctity of the Prasad is being restored, and pure ghee is now being used in its preparation. He also confirmed that further investigations are ongoing, with evidence being collected. “Anyone found involved in this irregularity will face strict action,” he stated.
