Pune, 24th June 2024: Pune MP and Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced today that the Ministry of Defence has approved the much-anticipated Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) survey for the runway expansion at Pune International Airport. This approval marks a significant step toward increasing international flight operations from Pune.

Mohol tweeted, “I thank Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh ji for this prompt decision in response to my earlier follow-up in this regard.”

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Defence Secretary, attended by the Divisional Commissioner of Pune. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will conduct the OLS survey, which is a critical step toward runway expansion.

“Such a survey will enable the runway expansion, allowing large-sized aircraft (typically used for international travel) to fly from Pune!” Mohol added.
