Karate Training Mandate for Girls in Educational Institutions: Action Report Sought

Pune, 6th September 2024: The Directorate of Higher Education through a circular issued on February 22, 2024, instructed to implement karate training programs in all public and private educational institutions as per the instructions under the Maharashtra State Women’s Policy.

Whether the said action has been taken accordingly or not, the report has to be submitted to the Director of Education immediately by the offices of the Joint Director of Education and the universities, such orders have been given by Dr Shailendra Deolankar, Director of Higher Education.

The Directorate of Higher Education through a circular has directed the universities and affiliated universities to submit the report regarding the implementation of karate training programs immediately. The Women’s Policy 2014 has suggested that all educational institutions conduct at least a three-month karate training program for girls.

Dr Deolankar ordered that if action has not yet been taken as per the suggestion, they should take immediate action and submit a report in this regard to the Directorate.

The order further stated that after giving instructions from the Departmental Joint Director and the universities, the report of the action taken by the colleges should be compiled at their level and submitted in a consolidated form to the Directorate.
