Pune, 7 August 2019: JW Marriott Pune, the city’s premium luxury hotel, recently volunteered at RESQ Charitable Trust to execute a day long cleaning, rescue and awareness work program. RESQ is a not-for-profit organisation that works towards reducing human-animal conflict on the streets of Pune, India since 2007.

The activity witnessed the presence of 20 associates along with senior management of JW Marriott Pune who worked alongside the members of the trust in de-weeding elephant grass from the fields, gardening for maintenance of the fields, filling up gunny sacks for storage of cattle feed and painting the boundary walls.

Associates of JW Marriott Pune along with the team at RESQ spent much time with the animals, fostering their trust and affection, to better promote human-animal coexistence through understanding the stories of the brave animals’ present at the RESQ sanctuary.

Vaishali Shahi, Manager, Human Resources, JW Marriott Pune while speaking on the efforts of RESQ Charitable Trust said, “We at JW Marriott Pune recognise the need for welfare and care towards all living beings. Understanding the need for rescue and rehabilitation of animals and creating awareness towards educating and inspiring urban communities to peacefully co-exist with animals on our streets is a priority. Through this activity we wanted to create a hygienic and sustainable living ecosystem for the many animals living in the city.”

Aiming to sensitize the masses in the city, JW Marriott Pune’s efforts have opened up many conversations on the laws for animal protection in the country and the measures concerned citizens can adopt to protect and rehabilitate them.
