Pune, 4th December 2023: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is set to address the longstanding issue of faculty shortages by recruiting full-time professors for 111 vacant positions. The university administration has announced that the official advertisement for these positions will be released in the upcoming weeks.

The scarcity of faculty members has been a pressing concern, with more than half of the academic departments experiencing a shortage. This dearth of professors has significantly impacted the academic quality of the university, leaving a noticeable gap in the teaching staff.

The university has not conducted faculty recruitment in nearly 12 years, intensifying the need for immediate action to enhance the academic environment. The impending recruitment process aims to fill the void by bringing in qualified professionals who will contribute to the university for the next 25 years.

Dr. Suresh Gosavi, the Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, assures that the entire recruitment process will adhere to transparent and academic norms, ensuring a fair selection of candidates.

To address the immediate need for faculty, the university had previously initiated the recruitment of 133 professors on a contractual basis. However, the recent approval from the higher and technical education department now allows the university to fill 111 permanent positions.
