Jammu: Terrorist Attack on Bus Carrying Devotees; 10 Dead, Several Injured
Jammu, 9th June 2024: In a tragic incident this evening, a bus ferrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori to Katra was targeted by terrorists in the Pouni area of Reasi district, bordering Rajouri district. The attack, which occurred around 6:10 PM local time, left 10 people dead and several others injured.
According to reports, the terrorists, armed with firearms, targeted the bus, causing the driver to lose control. Subsequently, the bus careened into a nearby gorge. Local villagers, along with law enforcement officials, swiftly responded to the scene, evacuating all passengers by 8:10 PM.
SSP (Reasi) Mohita Sharma oversaw the evacuation efforts, ensuring that the injured were promptly transported to various hospitals for medical attention. Among the injured, 13 were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Reasi, 5 to CHC Treyath, and 15 to the Government Medical College in Jammu.
In response to the attack, a joint security force operation headquarters, comprising personnel from the police, army, and CRPF, has been established at the site. A multidimensional operation has been initiated to apprehend the perpetrators behind this heinous act.
