IPS Officer Suhail Sharma Bids Farewell to Pune City Police, Heads to CBI

Pune, 31st December 2023: In a ceremonious farewell, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Zone 3, Pune City, Suhail Sharma bid adieu to the Pune City Police as he embarks on a new journey with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A farewell function was organized on Saturday at the Police Commissioner’s Office to honour his dedicated service and contributions.

Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr presided over the event and felicitated DCP Sharma for his exceptional service during his tenure in Pune. The ceremony witnessed the presence of several officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police, Administration, Arvind Chawria, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region), Pravin Kumar Patil, and others.

Sharma, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who joined the force in 2012, commenced his illustrious career in Chandrapur district. Over the years, he has served with distinction in various locations, including Buldhana, Kolhapur, Sangli, Mumbai, and Pune city. Notably, Sharma holds the unique distinction of being the first IPS officer to successfully summit Mount Everest from the North (China) side in 2016. His adventurous spirit is complemented by academic achievements, as he holds a Master’s degree in Law and Policy from the University of Oxford.

Assuming the role of Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone 3 in Pune City Police Commissionerate on November 15, 2022, Sharma has been lauded for his exemplary work in handling sensitive and crucial criminal investigations. He played a pivotal role in guiding subordinate officers to successfully solve various crimes within his jurisdiction.
