IPS Archit Chandak: From IIT Topper To Inspiring Deputy Commissioner Of Police

IPS Archit Chandak is one such remarkable individual who has inspired numerous individuals.

Archit originates from Shankar Nagar, Nagpur in Maharashtra and is the cherished son of Virendra and Chhaya Chandak. His parents hold directorial positions at Nagpur Techno Marketing Pvt. Ltd. located in MIDC Hingna. Archit pursued his schooling at Bhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir. Subsequently, he cracked the JEE examination in 2012, securing admission into IIT Delhi, where he emerged as the city topper. He completed his mechanical engineering degree at the college. While in college, Archit made a conscious decision to work for the government and serve his country.

During his internship, a Japanese company presented Archit with a job offer worth Rs 35 lakh. However, he declined the offer, choosing instead to prepare for the UPSC civil services examination. His preparation journey commenced in 2016 after attaining his Bachelor’s degree.

Archit appeared for the UPSC for the first time in 2018 and achieved an impressive All-India Rank (AIR) of 184 on his initial attempt. Initially, he served as the station house officer at Bazarpeth police station in Bhusawal, Maharashtra. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) in Nagpur.

The IPS officer strongly believes in maintaining an organized study structure and prioritizes revisions. Archit meticulously prepared for the examination by systematically advancing through different subjects. According to him, commitment to one’s goals leads to consistent learning of all concepts and topics, without succumbing to dissatisfaction or distress. Furthermore, Archit emphasizes the importance of utilizing the best study materials available, mastering each subject and concept, and regularly evaluating one’s progress.

Apart from his professional endeavours, IPS Archit Chandak indulges in playing chess and possesses an impressive FIDE rating of 1,820. He also maintains an active lifestyle, participating in the challenging 42-kilometre Mumbai Marathon. He frequently shares his daily activities on social media, amassing a current following of 92.2K on Instagram. Notably, Archit is married to IAS Saumya Sharma, his classmate from the UPSC, who serves as the CEO of Zilla Parishad Nagpur.
