Kolkata, 29th April 2023: Gujarat Titans (GT) chased down Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) 180-run challenge in 17.5 overs at the cost of three batsmen. Gujrat restricted Kolkata to 179 after winning the toss at Eden Gardens in the 39th match of the season.

For Gujarat, opener Shubman Gill scored 49 and Vijay Shankar scored an aggressive 51 runs. He was well supported by David Miller scoring 32 runs off 18 balls. Along with this victory, Gujarat took the top position in the points table by getting 12 points.

Kolkata Knight Riders had set a challenge of 180 runs for victory against Gujarat. Considering Gujarat’s strong batting lineup, this challenge was not too difficult for them. However, KKR’s spinners were also strong, so it was thought that the match would be even. But Gujarat’s opener Shubman Gill made Gujarat’s run chase easy.

After Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed for ten runs, he put on a half-century partnership with captain Hardik Pandya for the second wicket. Gujarat had reached near the score of a hundred within ten overs. But Hardik Pandya was dismissed after scoring 26 runs in 20 balls. After that, Shubman Gill was also dismissed after scoring 49 runs in 35 balls, missing his half-century by just a run.

With Harshit Rana and Sunil Narine giving Gujarat Titans two back-to-back knocks, it was now getting difficult for Gujrat. But Vijay Shankar started hitting aggressively who was well supported by David Miller. The duo put on an unbeaten partnership of 87 runs to give Gujarat victory in the 18th over.

Vijay Shankar scored a half-century in 24 balls. Miller supported him well with an unbeaten 32 off 18 balls. Vijay Shankar bat brilliantly with five sixes and two fours maintaining a strike rate of 212.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the opener for KKR, scored a blistering knock of 81 runs off 39 balls. Andre Russell, who was out of form, also came into form in today’s match. He scored 34 runs off 19 balls. But Mohammed Shami (3), Noor Ahmed (2), and Joshua Little (2) kept the other KKR batsmen in check resulting in KKR could not keep the target of 200 overs.
