International Passenger Among 8 New COVID Cases Reported In Pune District; 5 Cases From PMC

Pune, 27th December 2022: A total of 26 new COVID cases were reported in Maharashtra state today. There was no death due to the disease. On the other hand, 15 patients got discharged from hospitals after full recovery, informed the Health Department.
Active Covid cases in Maharashtra – As on today, there are 165 active cases in the state including 54 in Pune, 48 in Mumbai, 19 in Akola and 11 in Thane.
New Covid cases – Out of 26 new cases reported today 5 are from the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), two from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), one from Pune rural, six from Mumbai, one from Navi Mumbai.
Online mock drill of health facilities – As per instructions from the Government of India, an online mock drill of all secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities in the state was completed today as a hospital preparedness exercise on the background of the international scenario of Covid-19. To successfully complete this mock drill, nodal officers at divisional and district levels were appointed.
All districts and municipal corporations in the state, in addition to the medical colleges participated in this important mock drill. A review of available hospital beds, ICU facilities, equipment, Oxygen system, medicine stocks, human resource and their training, telemedicine facility was taken for all hospitals across the state.
Until 5pm today, 1308 facilities in the state had completed this online mock drill. 610 government hospitals, 628 private hospitals, 28 government medical colleges and 27 private medical colleges have completed this online mock drill today.
Screening of International Passengers – On the background of the international scenario of Covid-19, screening of international passengers arriving at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports have been started from 24th Dec 2022. All passengers are being thermally scanned and 2 % random samples are taken for Covid testing. All positive samples are referred for WGS. Till today morning and their testing are as follows:
Total passengers arrived – 44,666
Passengers whose RT-PCR was done – 703
RT-PCR positive and samples sent for genomic sequencing – 2
(Out of these 2 RTPCR positive patients, one is from Pune and second from Goa)
