New Delhi, 1st December 2021: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India via Twitter confirmed that the Indian government may not start international flights in the country from December 15 as planned earlier.
International flights in India had been suspended since March 23 last year and were now likely to be operated as before but have been put on hold.

The DGCA said in a circular on Wednesday, “In view of the evolving global scenario with the emergence of the new variant of concern, the situation is being watched closely in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicating the effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services shall be notified in due course.”

However, after a new variation of coronavirus known as ‘Omicron’ was discovered and cases began to appear in a few countries, this plan was placed on hold. While planned foreign flights have been suspended in India since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, special international passenger flights had been operating since July of last year under some agreements that were made with 31 countries.
