International Day of Yoga Celebrated with Mass Yoga Demonstration in Pune

Pune, 6th April 2023: The International Day of Yoga this year has a global theme of “Yoga for One World” and a domestic theme of “Har Ghar Aangan Yoga,” which means Yoga in the courtyard of every house. Due to modern lifestyles and stressful competition, people are leading unhealthy routines. Yoga plays a vital role in addressing all lifestyle-related disorders, including high blood pressure, stress, mental diseases, and other non-communicable diseases, while also improving immunity to tackle infectious diseases.

To commemorate the 76th countdown day to the International Day of Yoga, a mass yoga demonstration was organized at Nisarga Gram, Yewalewadi, in collaboration with the National Institute of Naturopathy, the Central Bureau of Communications Maharashtra and Goa Region, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The Ministry of Ayush has set guidelines for this year’s event, which began at 7 am with a mass yoga demonstration following the common yoga protocol of the Government of India.

At the start of the event, the Central Bureau of Communications Maharashtra and Goa Region artists performed Yoga Geet. Dr. K. Satya Lakshmi, Director NIN, spoke to the gathering and encouraged people to take up yoga in their daily routine. Naturopathy Physician Dr. Pranav Khawle instructed the participants on the asanas and pranayama.

The event had participation from about 800 people of all age groups, including students and staff of NIN, students of Vidyashilp Public School, and activists of International Naturopathy Organization. The focus was on promoting yoga as a part of daily life to lead a healthier lifestyle.
