About IRIS :
Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS) National Science Fair 2018 is a public – private partnership program between Department of Science & Technology (DST), Indo US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and Intel. RIS National Science Fair promotes and nurtures science and scientific research amongst young Indian innovators, recognizes and rewards outstanding projects and provides a platform for these young innovators to get recognized at national and international science events.
The scientific direction to this fair is provided by a team of volunteer scientists from various national labs and universities.
1. Winners of the IRIS National Science Fair go on to represent India on the world stage at the Intel® International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) at the US every year.
2. Winners of the 1st and 2nd Grand Award at ISEF actually have minor planets named after them by Lincoln Laboratories, Massachusetts. Till date 25 young Indians have received this honour courtesy their initial participation in the IRIS National Science Fair.
3. Today Intel ISEF gets participation from over 78 countries with prizes of over $ 4 million. Team India won 10 Grand awards and 11 Special awards at Intel ISEF 2017 held in Los Angeles, USA.
4. There is no participation fee. In fact, the visits to Regional Mentorship Camps, IRIS Nationals, National Mentorship Camps and Internationals are sponsored at each stage by IRIS for these young innovators – which makes it an extremely amazing opportunity.
