Indore Man’s Heart Transplanted In Soldier At Pune’s Army Hospital

Pune, 31st January 2023: A special plane transported the heart of a brain-dead 34-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore to Pune yesterday which was transplanted into the body of a soldier of the Indian Air Force (IAF) with heart ailment.

According to a representative from the Indore Society for Organ Donation, Pradeep Aswani, a vegetable merchant from Ujjain, had a major head injury in a car accident on the evening of 20th January and was subsequently treated at a private hospital in Indore. He claimed that Aswani’s condition deteriorated to the point that doctors declared him brain dead.

The man’s grieving family consented to donate his organs, and as a result, surgeons were able to remove his heart, liver, kidneys, and eyes, according to the official.

Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, the Divisional Commissioner of Indore, said that an Army medical team flew the heart to Pune in a special aircraft for transplantation at the Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences (AICTS).

Aswani will donate his kidneys, liver, and eyeballs to patients in need at nearby hospitals.

Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre
(ZTCC) Pune as per the allocation guidelines of Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization

(ROTTO).
