Pune, 15th July 2024: An Indigo flight scheduled to depart from Varanasi to Pune at 3 AM was abruptly canceled, leaving around 200 passengers stranded at the Varanasi airport in the middle of the night. The passengers, who included children, pregnant women, senior citizens, disabled individuals, and heart disease patients, checked in at the airport at 1 AM only to discover that their flight had been canceled without prior notice.

Frustrated and desperate for a solution, some passengers reached out to Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol for assistance. Responding promptly, Minister Mohol instructed the airline to arrange an alternative flight, and the passengers’ concerns were swiftly addressed.

Upon hearing the passengers’ plight, Minister Mohol contacted the relevant authorities and urged them to provide another aircraft for the stranded travelers. Following his intervention, the airline arranged an alternative flight, and all passengers were able to reach Pune by Monday morning.

In addition to arranging the alternative flight, Minister Mohol also directed that food and beverages be provided to the passengers. The local administration promptly ensured that these provisions were made available, easing the passengers’ discomfort during the wait.

“The cancellation of the flight without any prior notice and in the middle of the night caused outrage among all the passengers. Moreover, we were disappointed as we did not get any reply from the company. At the same time, Union Minister Mohol showed readiness and facilitated our journey to Pune,” said one of the affected passengers.

Minister Mohol expressed his commitment to assisting the passengers, stating, “After some passengers of the plane contacted me, I immediately instructed the concerned to provide an alternative flight. Additionally, I instructed that food and drink be provided to the passengers, which was promptly arranged by the local administration.”
