India and Kuwait Set For Thrilling Showdown In SAFF Championship Final
Bengaluru(India), 4th July 2023: The SAFF Championship final will feature an exciting clash between India and Kuwait. This will be India’s ninth consecutive appearance in the final, as they aim to defend their title. The highly anticipated match will take place on Tuesday, July 4, at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
India had a sensational start to their SAFF Championship campaign, winning their opening game 4-0 against arch-rivals Pakistan. They followed it up with a 2-0 victory over Nepal in their next match. In their final group-stage game, India battled hard to secure a draw against Kuwait. In the semi-final against Lebanon, the teams were evenly matched and the game eventually went to a penalty shootout. India emerged victorious, scoring four out of their five penalties, while Lebanon only converted two.
Throughout the group stage, Sunil Chhetri proved to be a crucial player for India, finding the back of the net in all three games. He has amassed an impressive total of five goals so far in the competition.
