Indapur: Five Killed, One Injured in Overturned Car Accident on Pune-Solapur Highway

Indapur, 2nd July 2024: An accident on the Pune-Solapur National Highway near Bhigwan resulted in the deaths of five people and left one seriously injured. The incident occurred on Tuesday around 4:00 PM when a speeding car lost control and overturned at Dalaj in Indapur, Pune district, Maharashtra.

The deceased have been identified as Rafiq Qureshi (34), Irfan Patel (24), Mehboob Qureshi (24), Feroze Qureshi (28), and Feroze Qureshi (27), all residents of Narayankhed in the Medak district of Telangana. Syed Ismail Amir (23), who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment in Bhigwan.

The six youths from Telangana were on a tourism trip in Maharashtra. As they were heading home near Bhigwan, the driver lost control of the vehicle amidst heavy rain in the Indapur taluka area. The car overturned multiple times after crossing a slope at high speed, leading to the fatal accident. Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Mahangde of Bhigwan Police Station confirmed that five individuals died on the spot.

Following the accident, police sub-inspector Mahesh Kupevad of the highway traffic police center, along with his colleagues and Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Mahangde, quickly arrived at the spot. Despite their prompt response, five victims had already succumbed to their injuries before receiving medical treatment.
