Pune, 4th July 2023: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Pune has uncovered a case of Railway Act violation at the Pune Station. The accused, identified as Shadab Akhlakh Momin, a 22-year-old resident of Kondhwa, Pune, was apprehended during a routine check on May 26, 2023.
During the inspection conducted by Ramdas Bhise, the Divisional Commercial Manager, along with his team, ASI Santosh Jayabhaye, and Constable Gorakh Shelke, a suspicious individual was noticed purchasing an unauthorized ticket through the reservation window. The person in question, Momin, failed to provide satisfactory answers regarding the ownership of the ticket and other inquiries made by the officials.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Shadab, who was involved in the telecalling sector at a BPO, had recently lost his job due to downsizing. Consequently, he resorted to illegally procuring reservation tickets by standing in line at the reservation office at Pune Station, charging a commission of INR 100 per person above the ticket price.
As a result of the operation, the following items were confiscated as case evidence: one Future Journey PRS ticket with a value of INR 8,860, two blank reservation forms, and INR 140 in cash.
The case was handed over to ASI Santosh Jayabhaye for further investigation, and Momin confessed to engaging in the illegal trade of railway tickets. Subsequently, he was arrested under Section 143 of the Railway Act, and his family members were informed. The main reservation supervisor in Pune was notified, and the blocked ticket was duly recorded, along with the receipt of the confiscated reservation form.
Momin is currently in custody awaiting remand proceedings scheduled for July 27, 2023, in the court.
