IIM Nagpur’s Pune Campus Gets 70 Acres Land In Pimpri Chinchwad, Check Other Development Projects Approved

Pune/Pimpri, 8th August 2024: In a significant move to enhance the quality of life for residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad and Bhosari Vidhan Sabha constituency, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved several key development projects and initiatives. This decision comes as a much-needed “monsoon gift” from the Mahayuti government, addressing long-pending issues in the region.

A crucial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, following the persistent demands of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge. The meeting focused on resolving pending issues and advancing development works related to the Bhosari Assembly Constituency and Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

The meeting was attended by Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and various senior state government officials, directors, and officers from the Revenue Department.

Key Decisions from the Meeting:

1. Establishment of IIM Branch: A new branch of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) will be established in Pimpri-Chinchwad on a 70-acre plot.

2. Urban Development Notifications: The Urban Development Department has been instructed to issue notifications for amending the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) and the Annual Price Index (Ready Reckoner) for restricted areas such as the Red Zone and Blue Line in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

3. Transfer of Housing Scheme Flats: The process to transfer 11,223 flats from various housing schemes within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Navnagar Development Authority limits to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will be initiated.

4. New Metro Line Extension: A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared to extend the new metro line, catering to the growing population and public transport needs in Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad.

5. Eco-Tourism Park in Dudulgaon: A proposal for developing an eco-tourism park on forest land in Dudulgaon, Pimpri-Chinchwad, will be submitted within 15 days.

6. New Police Commissionerate Building: The proposal for administrative approval and funding for constructing a new building for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has been assured.

7. Funding for Bhosari Development Works: Immediate action will be taken to allocate funds for implementing proposed development projects in the Bhosari Vidhan Sabha Constituency, particularly concerning MSEDCL.

8. Freehold Property Decision: A decision regarding the freehold status of properties within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Navnagar Development Authority limits will be made in the next 15 days, in conjunction with other similar cases across the state.

9. Indrayani River Improvement Project: The PMRDA Commissioner, Dr. Yogesh Mhase, has been directed to appoint an independent officer to oversee the Indrayani river improvement project (Namami Indrayani) in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The environment department has also been instructed to expedite clearances and other necessary planning.

The final decisions regarding the freehold status of properties within Pimpri-Chinchwad and Bhosari Assembly Constituency will be taken in the upcoming cabinet meeting. Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis has assured changes in integrated development control and promotion rules in restricted areas, support for the Indrayani river improvement project, and funding for the construction of a police commissionerate, among other initiatives.

The allocation of 70 acres of land for the expansion of IIM Nagpur in Pimpri-Chinchwad marks a significant step toward establishing an international standard educational institution in the region. According to MLA Mahesh Landge, the Mahayuti government is making positive decisions that are crucial for the sustainable development of Pimpri-Chinchwad, demonstrating its commitment to the welfare of its residents.
