Pune, 29th September 2024: On World Heart Day, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, inaugurated the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) Social Media Platform during a virtual event hosted on Zoom. The launch brought together cardiac surgeons from across the country, marking a significant step toward enhancing heart health awareness in India.

The new Social Media Platform aims to bridge the gap in knowledge sharing, providing insights into preventive measures, medical expertise, and various treatment options available for heart patients. By facilitating better connectivity among healthcare professionals, the platform intends to empower patients through access to valuable information.

In his inaugural address, Minister Gadkari emphasized the importance of educating the public about preventive health measures. “We need to focus on teaching the masses how to prevent heart diseases,” he stated. He also expressed pride in the global reputation of Indian doctors, urging them to develop cost-effective solutions for healthcare challenges. “We should strive for an Indian solution for every health remedy,” he added.

Dr. Manoj Durairaj, President of IACTS and a pioneering heart transplant surgeon from Pune, shared his vision for the platform. “This initiative will allow us to showcase the achievements of Indian cardiac surgeons on the global stage,” he remarked. He highlighted that the platform would serve as an educational resource for both healthcare providers and the general public, guiding patients on their health journeys.

Dr. Satyajit Bose, Junior Vice President of IACTS, underscored the theme “Strong Hearts, Calmer Minds,” which resonates with the initiative’s mission to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their heart health. “Our goal is to educate the masses on heart disease prevention and ensure quality healthcare for all,” he noted.

Dr. Anand Sancheti, a past president of IACTS, acknowledged the collective efforts that made the launch possible. The inaugural event was attended by IACTS executive members and life, fellow, and associate members, highlighting the association’s strong network.

Dr. C.S. Hiremath, Secretary of IACTS, stated, “Through this platform, we aim to articulate the goals of our association clearly. This day signifies the start of enhanced communication around heart health, and we are committed to ensuring better healthcare through increased awareness.”

With the launch of this Social Media Platform, IACTS takes a decisive step toward fostering a healthier, heart-conscious India, reminding everyone that every heartbeat matters.
